  1. A heron is a large to medium-sized wading 
  2. BIRD of the family Ardeidae, which also 
  3. includes bitterns, egrets, night herons, and 
  4. boatbills. Herons have sharp bills, broad 
  5. wings, long legs, and soft plumage. They are 
  6. found mostly in tropical and subtropical 
  7. regions, but also in temperate zones.
